TRANSPORTATION GRANT UPDATE
The GDOT has notified the City that the Transportation Grant which was awarded to Grayson in 2008 is now ready to be implemented. The area covered by the Grant is generally the triangle bounded by Hwy. 20, Grayson Pkwy. and Rosebud Road. With the Grant the City will be able to provide facilities for pedestrians and bicycles, better access to historic areas and to parks. Specifically, the work will beautify downtown Grayson and improve circulation through the installation of sidewalks, landscaping, park benches along the streets, pedestrian lighting and a new passive park area. Two parcels of land at the intersection of Hwy. 20 and Rosebud Road have been granted to the City to build the passive park to form a Gateway into the heart of the City. This improvement will include landscaping and a period looking Seth Thomas clock tower as a center point. Plans are underway to design the improvements and to implement them as soon as constructio n on Hwy. 20 is completed. |
